Vroon Offshore Services continues sponsorship of OSJ Safety Award

2022 Safety Award goes to IMCA

OSJ safety award

IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) has been announced as winner of the Offshore Support Journal (OSJ) Safety Award for 2022. Vroon Offshore Services again sponsored this annual Award, which was presented to Richard Purser, IMCA Technical Adviser - Marine by Stuart Thom, VOS Aberdeen Managing Director during this week’s OSJ Conference in London.

The OSJ Safety Award goes to a company, person, project or product that has either set industry safety benchmarks and/or made the difference in terms of safety of life, property and environment in an offshore-support-vessel (OSV) operation or incident over the last 12 months.

IMCA received the Award in recognition of its development of safety standards for offshore renewables. Most recently, IMCA expanded its “Guidelines for Walk to Work (W2W) Operations” (IMCA M254). These guidelines were produced to help standardise the way in which vessels give personnel safe access to offshore structures, both in the wind and oil & gas industries.

A second nomination for this year’s Award was Lars Thrane’s LT-3100 GMDSS terminal/Iridium services. This terminal was enhanced with new services as it was approved for long-range identification services (LRIT) and as a ship security alert system. Lars Thrane upgraded the firmware, enabling LRIT and sending messages to email in the terminal, replacing telex and allowing third-party email and tracking.

We congratulate IMCA on winning the Award, and Lars Thrane A/S for the well-deserved nomination.

At Vroon Offshore Services, we commit to safe practices in all our operations and everyday actions. We have a duty of care for the safety and health of our employees and for those we serve. We believe safety is a ‘mindset’ and an integral part of our decision making. We are, therefore, extremely proud to have the opportunity to sponsor the OSJ Safety Award.
