New step in Vroon's sustainability journey
Sustainability has gained a prominent role within Vroon in recent years. It is a key factor in how we do business, is reflected in our Vision and Mission, and is an integral part of our Core Values. We are, therefore, pleased to announce that we have selected ROSE Framework as our official sustainability-management platform. This is an important step forward and a further commitment to achieving our targets in this area.
Together, we have started breaking down a potentially complex and daunting task into bite-sized pieces that are both workable and understandable for all of us at Vroon. ROSE is assisting us in better assessing our Company’s impact, risks and opportunities in the area of sustainability. We are making great progress and have full trust in a successful further cooperation and outcome.
The following extract from ROSE’s press release summarises how ROSE is committed to empowering Vroon:
- Double materiality assessment (DMA): Vroon will be guided by ROSE’s dedicated sustainability expert to navigate through value-chain mapping, impact risk opportunities (IRO) and thresholds setting.
- Data collection: Drawing on the results of the DMA, ROSE will derive from the thousands of European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) data points the disclosure requirements that are applicable for Vroon.
- Carbon footprint calculation: In the maritime transport industry, scope 1 represents the largest part of the corporate carbon footprint (CCF).
- Long-term continuous improvement: Vroon will leverage the platform to set goals, break them down into concrete actions, and monitor progress in real-time.
Vroon’s unique strengths for a successful partnership:
- Established data-collection and reporting culture: Vroon's existing practices of logging fuel consumption and operational data will seamlessly integrate with ROSE, enabling efficient environmental impact tracking.
- Exemplary health and safety practices: Life at sea is by nature dangerous. Vroon has implemented very high standards in workforce health and safety that will need to be reported on in line with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) framework.
- Resource commitment: Vroon is dedicating time and human resources to ensuring the project’s success, paving the way for long-term tangible improvements.
We are already appreciating the professionality and expertise that Rose is providing and look forward to a productive partnership, supporting our ongoing commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
