Day of the Seafarer - 25 June 2024
Annual event celebrating seafarers around the world
Vroon’s seafarers form the cornerstone of our operations. Highly trained and professional, they operate our vessels safely and efficiently 24/7. The Day of the Seafarer is an annual event, initiated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and celebrating the vital role seafarers play in our global community. Taking place on 25 June, this Day salutes the often unrecognised contributions made by seafarers across the world to international seaborne trade, the world economy and society.
The focus for 2024 is on seafarers’ contributions to ensuring that the maritime sector is a safe workplace (#SafetyTipsAtSea). Being at sea for often long periods, provides many opportunities to take pictures of the working environment. So, we asked our colleagues on board to share their photos and top tips for safety at sea, showing us how they work to enhance maritime safety and security, in tandem with protecting the marine environment.
We have had a great response and a selection of the photos will be shared in our next News Express magazine.
On the Day of the Seafarer approaches, we extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all colleagues, at sea and ashore. We are proud to have you as a member of the Vroon team and appreciate your hard work, dedication and resilience.
HAPPY DAY OF THE SEAFARER 2024!
