Day of the Seafarer - 25 June 2023

Our seafarers are at the cornerstone of Vroon’s operations. Highly trained and professional, they ensure our vessels operate safely and efficiently 24/7. The Day of the Seafarer is an annual event, initiated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to celebrate the unique, often unrecognised, role seafarers play in our global community. Taking place on 25 June, this Day salutes the vital contributions made by seafarers across the world to international seaborne trade, the world economy and society.

The campaign focus for 2023 is on the marine environment and how we contribute to protecting it (#OceansWorthProtecting). This theme is in line with the World Maritime theme “MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on”. Seafarers spend a great deal of time at sea and are a big part of the solution when it comes to protecting the marine environment.

As in previous years, we asked our colleagues at sea and in the offices for their input on this topic. We have enjoyed seeing their photos and learning more about how they contribute to protecting the environment, on board and at home. A selection will be shared via social media and in our September News Express magazine.

As the Day of the Seafarer approaches, we send a BIG THANK YOU to all colleagues, at sea and ashore. We are proud to have you as part of the Vroon team. We much appreciate your hard work, dedication and resilience.
